Our Services
Each month, BGACDC directly serves more than 250 low-to-moderate income residents of the Marvell School District but BGACDC’s programs reach beyond those directly served and improve the lives of all residents of Phillips County and the surrounding Arkansas Delta
The current programs of the BGACDC are:
Youth & Family Development
Housing Development
Community & Economic Development
- After-school activities for children ages 6 to 14 years old
- Structured, year-round, Saturday recreational activities for Marvell youth
- Summer Day Camp with an emphasis on reading
- Parental empowerment programs for young parents between 18-39 years old.
- A school-to-work project for students 15-18
- Direct one-on-one assistance and referral for area residents making applications for government programs, educational opportunities, and other life-changing matters.
Housing Development
- BGACDC Manor - a 39-unit complex that provides safe, low-income housing.
- The Twelve Block Initiative - an effort to plan, organize and develop the East End section of Marvell.
- 20 units of single-family and multi-family rental housing that provides safe, low-income housing.
- A Homeowner Rehabilitation Project that repairs homes of area residents.
- Encouraging homeownership through direct assistance, referrals and training.
Community & Economic Development
- BGACDC is one of the largest employers in Marvell, Arkansas.
- BGACDC sponsors adult education and training activities.
- The BGACDC Library – a lending library that focuses on books on self-improvement, leadership development and aspirational biographies.
- Best Food in Town (BFT) - a restaurant and gathering place for many people in the community
- Community Services, through which community members can get information, access typing and copying services, obtain assistance with completing forms and rent the Center for special events
- Rural Senior Employment Program that provides employment for those age 55 and older.
- A computer lab that offers computer access to all residents with hands-on technical assistance on using software and accessing and navigating the internet.
- BGACDC’s Fitness Center with exercise equipment and scheduled training that promotes healthy habits and fights obesity.
